Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre in Pakistan Directory

The Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre, established in July, 1962, commonly known as PITAC with its Headquarters at Lahore and Regional Offices at Karachi and Peshawar, as an autonomous organization. It is working under the administrative control of the Federal Ministry of Industries, Production & Special Initiatives. Workshop facilities were established at Lahore, to provide in-plant advisory and consultancy services and keep liaison with the industries in this region. Its aim is to meet the acute shortage of skilled labour force in the country, increase productivity and ultimately accelerate economic development through mutual cooperation. For the realization of these aims and objectives, it was decided that the Centre should have an excellent workshop with the purpose of training industrial workers in latest metal working engineering techniques and handling of precision equipment. This Centre was to develop production methods and processes. In fact, product development, tooling and production processes are three interdependent activities and as such all the three were to be pursued in PITAC. PITACs efforts are also directed towards improvement and enhancement of productivity in the industrial concerns thereby, contributing its share to the national economy. All functions of PITAC have a multiplier effect in raising the efficiency of production of the metal working industry.
