The Book Group in Pakistan Directory

 

The Bookgroup was founded in October 1988 as a non-profit, educational research and extension organization with the objective of bringing about institutional reform in the education sector. It is registered with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Sindh, under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961 (XLVI of 1961) and has tax exemption U/S 2 (36)(C) of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. Philosophy and Approach, The approach of the Book Group for initiating reform in the education sector has been three-fold: to re-define the content of learning by producing alternative textbooks with their teachers guides, which serve as instruments of change; to demonstrate by working closely with the government and private sector schools, that these alternative textbooks are the building blocks of a new schooling culture; and to dialogue with the government, on the merit of these internentions, for reviewing its education policies and bringing about a fundamental and long overdue change in the education sector.
