Citizens Education Development Foundation in Pakistan Directory

A charity organization endeavoring to educate poor children. CEDF currently runs home schools and a mobile school. Currently, CEDF is operating 16 home schools. Some of the home schools are housed in a car porch, patios, a room or wherever the family finds it convenient to allow 10 to 25 children to study two hours a day. The teacher is educated to at least class VIII, and in some cases, is a matriculate or even a college graduate. We have almost 350 street children on our roll. CEDF pays the teachers salary, buys books and stationery and provides a blackboard for each home school. Some schools charge a nominal fee of Rs. 10-15/- per child from those who can afford to pay. The amount collected is recirculated for that particular home school to buy extra teaching books, or to arrange a field-trip for the class. The teacher is instructed on teaching methods and is provided a list of goals which are set out in the curriculum designed by CEDF. Each home school is coordinated by a volunteer who is in contact with the teacher and reports the progress of the school at each CEDF meeting, which is held regularly.
